Donations can be the general Stanford fund as well as any specific Stanford department, school or program. The Hong Kong Stanford University Charitable Trust was established in 1993 to provide financial support to Stanford University (a) for the award of scholarships and bursaries to persons who are in need of financial assistance from Hong Kong and Mainland China and (b) for general and other purposes of the University. As a charitable trust granted exemption under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance, individual and business donors who are chargeable to Hong Kong salaries tax, personal assessment or profits tax can claim deduction for the aggregate of their donations (up to 25% of their assessable income or profits). |
